Spotlight on the International Studies Major

INTS is an interdisciplinary liberal arts degree designed to offer students a thorough education in international issues while preparing them for global careers. This major offers students the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of complex international issues and the forces that are shaping our world.

Interdisciplinary: You can take classes from various departments such as Anthropology, Political Science, Modern Languages, Ethnic Studies, Geography, Economics, History, Religious Studies, etc.

Diversification of Departments: Students must take classes in at least three different disciplines; students must diversify: no more than eighteen hours in any one discipline will be accepted towards the major.

Focus: You are able to customize your degree to suit your personal interests and career goals.

Regional Specialization: Requirement of at least five courses focused on a specific geographic area (Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East or Islamic World, or Sub-Saharan Africa).

Language: All students must demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language other than English. This may be fulfilled by completing the fourth semester of a foreign language course sequence. The emphasis on foreign language skills helps to enhance regional specialization.
