On January 14th, the Denver Transfer Initiative family volunteered at the Denver Rescue Mission, located at 1130 Park Avenue West in Downtown Denver. We helped prepare and serve lunch and dinner to the community, and snuck a few bites ourselves! The staff at the Rescue Mission was even kind enough to give the DTI family a tour of the house. DTI hopes to continue to volunteer in the community throughout the semester and create relationships that will lead to greater opportunities!
This was a very humbling experience and I would be game for setting up something on a regular--as in, 2-3 times a semester--schedule of continuing to voluntee. Do we have a chair for the volunteer committeee?...I heard that maybe Archie D would be a great candidate :)
